Isaiah 9:6
6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Declaration
Holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost; and in the process of the verbal plenary inspiration of the Bible, God gave us over one hundred names for his only begotten Son.

Let's talk about Jesus more and more
Proposition
How much do you really know about the One whose birth we are celebrating this Christmas morning? Do you ever TUG (Think Upon God) regarding the most magnificent glory, grandeur, and infinity of His identity?
Transition
Over the next few minutes, we are going to touch on a few of our Blessed Savior’s many names hidden in God’s Word and outlined for us in the song “Let’s Talk About Jesus.”
Points
I. King of Kings
A. 1 Timothy 6:15
Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
B. Revelation 17:14
These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
C. Revelation 19:16
And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
II. Lord of Lords
A. Deuteronomy 10:17
For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:
B. Psalms 136:3
O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth for ever.
III. I Am
A. Exodus 3:14
And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
B. John 18:6
As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.
IV. The Way
A. John 14:4
And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
B. John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
V. The Truth
A. John 5:33
Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth.
B. John 8:32
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
VI. The Life
A. John 6:51
I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

VII. The Door

Conclusion
“Let’s Talk About Jesus” – a simple chorus which declares a wonderful truth. He is the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, the great I Am, the Way, the Truth, the Life. Philippians 1:27 exhorts each of us with the following words:
“Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel.”
What an impact we could make in this world if we would commit our lives to serve our King and share the Gospel with those that need to know Him. It is my prayer that this collection of names will encourage you to talk about Jesus, the one whose birth we are celebrating this morning, more and more. |
